How to impress during your Assessment / Taster days
The selection for this year’s apprentices will start week
commencing 15 February 2016 and we understand for people applying this is both
an exciting and nervous time!
As we have all been there we thought it would be useful to provide
you with a few top tips to help you through this part of this assessment
process:
1. Make sure you arrive on time (we would say
between 10 and 15 minutes early!)
2. Wear appropriate clothing, you will be doing a
lot of practical work during the 3 days (so don’t wear your suit!) but make
sure you look like you have made an effort.
3. Show an interest, be enthusiastic and ask plenty
of questions – there will be loads you don’t know about the site so do take the
chance to get a lot of information (this will help you when it gets to
interview)
4. Make sure to do the practice tests, this will
give you an idea of what to expect and calm your nerves.
5. Try and mention previous experiences and
anything you have been involved in which shows your interest in either
Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
We hope these tips help you to
prepare for this first part of the recruitment process, but remember the most
important thing is to enjoy it! You will get involved in a lot of fun things
during those 3 days, so try to take it all in!
