An introduction to our Mechanical Apprentices!
As mentioned in the previous blog, over the
next couple of weeks we will be introducing the different people in our social
media team. Today, we will start with the Mechanical Apprentices based in
Hexham!
Lewis,
Final Year Apprentice (I am the one in the back of the photo)
· When
did you join EGGER: 2012, straight after my GCSEs in Engineering,
Maths, English, Science, Business Studies and Graphics at Queen Elizabeth High
School.
· Why
did you choose EGGER: I saw EGGER as an excellent opportunity to get
into Engineering due to the size and variety of the plant.
· What
are you currently working on: I am working on my final year project which I
will give you more information about in a future blog and I am also looking
forward to starting my shift training over the coming months.
Tom
, Third Year Apprentice (I am on the right side of the photo)
· When
did you join EGGER: 2013, after my A-Levels in Maths, Business and
Product Design at Queen Elizabeth High School.
· Why
did you choose EGGER: I realised when studying my A-Levels that an
apprenticeship would be the best way to gain practical skills in Engineering
and I knew EGGER were a large local employer with great opportunities.
· What
are you currently working on: I
have just started studying the first year of my HNC in Mechanical Engineering and
I am currently doing my process training within the recycling plant. This is where we study the production process through each part of the
plant, over a 4 month period, spending 1 month in each section. At the end of
that month we have to give a presentation to all of the production and
engineering managers to show what we have learned.
Bailey,
Second Year Apprentice (I am on the left hand side of the photo)
· When
did you join EGGER: 2014, following my GCSEs in Engineering,
History, RE, English, Maths and Science at Queen Elizabeth High School.
· Why
did you choose EGGER: I have always had an interest in Engineering
and after visiting EGGER’s Apprentice Open Day, I knew I would get the chance
to get hands on experience and meet a range of different people.
· What
are you currently working on: I have only just come onsite at Hexham,
following my year at Rolls Royce and TyneMet College, so I am just getting to
know the site and the different people in the mechanical team. So far I have
had tours of Lamination, Recycling and impregnation.
Apprentice Open Day
We each came along to an Apprentice Open Day to get a better understanding of
what an apprenticeship at EGGER had to offer and we would suggest that if you
are interested you do the same. Our next one is scheduled for Thursday 12th November at our site in
Hexham. We will be there answering any questions and showing people around the
workshops.
We also currently have an opportunity for an apprentice in our Transport department,
you can find out all about this here: www.egger.com/jobs
Thank you for
reading our blog, we hope you have found it interesting and we look forward to
meeting you on our open day!
